Vote for Highway 101 Tech

Energy Environment

Vote for an environment friendly Highway 101 tech corridor.

  • Californians take great pride in our Mediterranean climate, our parks, forests, mountains, oceans and wildlife which make our state unique. Our universities such as UCSB offer world-class environmental studies programs because our society needs educated citizens who can maintain our special environment while addressing future problems. My priority is to make California energy efficient and to help our graduating students find more opportunity in entrepreneurial business practices than in the government sector.
  • Bob Tuler of Radius Commercial produced a webinar a few weeks ago where it was mentioned that in the months ahead there could be a retail vacancy rate of 12-18% on State Street.  North of 20% will take the state 5 years to recover. In Santa Barbara office space sales volume is down 47%. A commercial realtor said he has not seen this since 2009.  Business traveler hotels and the UCSB hotels are also not doing well. Macy’s may   convert its 2nd and 3rd floors into office space. Now the City has turned to tech companies such as Amazon,  Invoca, Green Hills Software, Zoom Video Communications and Well Heath Inc. for growth. I will author   Senate bills to incentivize new tech companies to come to Santa Barbara, Santa Maria and Oxnard. I will also work with other senators to find ways to encourage clean energy businesses and environmental service start-ups to move offices to Santa Barbara’s unleased office space
